US Department of Justice Investigates Media Outlets
The US Department of Justice has announced it will investigate several television networks after they paused their joint coverage of the president last month, the BBC reports.
The department believes the networks may have violated federal antitrust laws when they suspended their coverage following President Trump's decision to bar CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from the White House. According to Trump, they were barred due to their "constant reporting of fake news."
Several other outlets, including Fox News, decided not to cover the president, in solidarity with the barred media organizations.
Media outlets take turns covering the president, and the resulting material is then shared among the various networks.
A judge has overturned the decision and given the media outlets the green light to re-enter the White House.
