Zelenskyy: We will stop if Russia stops
US President Donald Trump wants Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil refineries. That will not happen as long as Russia attacks Ukrainian energy facilities, counters Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"It is possible to stop attacking energy infrastructure as early as today, but Putin does not want that," the Ukrainian president writes on X, adding:
"Ukraine is ready to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries if Russia stops attacking our energy infrastructure. Any steps toward de-escalation must be reciprocal and backed by real guarantees," Zelenskyy writes.
Ukraine's energy supply is suffering greatly due to Russian attacks. At the same time, Russian refineries have been hard hit by Ukrainian attacks—a situation that has come to a head since Trump reached an agreement with Putin regarding supplies of Russian diesel.
