Report of planned assassination attempt against Polish Prime Minister

Polish police have received information regarding a potential plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, reports Poland’s TVP World.

According to a spokesperson for the Polish Interior Ministry, "measures have been taken," and a crisis meeting was held in Warsaw on Sunday. Representatives from the police, as well as the state security and intelligence services, attended the meeting.

"We are taking this extremely seriously," said Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, following the meeting.

"In this case, we are talking about threats that could very likely actually be carried out," he continued.

Poland: Man who planned attack on Tusk arrested

The man who planned an attack on Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been arrested, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński stated, according to the AP.

Kierwiński provided no details regarding how the arrest was carried out or the nature of the attack the man had planned.

Earlier in the day, the government announced that it had received information about a potential assassination plot against Tusk and had "taken measures." A crisis meeting was also held in Warsaw during the day.
