Kremlin: Putin receptive to Trump's proposals

Donald Trump's proposals regarding the war in Ukraine have reportedly met with some receptiveness from Vladimir Putin.

The presidents of the US and Russia spoke by phone on Friday.

The conversation focused largely on the war in Ukraine, Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told state-controlled Russian media. According to Peskov, Trump put forward proposals for "de-escalating the conflict" to which Putin was open.

"During the conversation, the Russian president was receptive to certain proposals from the American side regarding steps toward de-escalation," Peskov said in substance.

Following the call, Donald Trump announced that they had agreed the US would make exceptions to sanctions, allowing Russia to export quantities of diesel to the global market.
