E-commerce continues to plummet: "Incredibly dark month"
The cancer of Swedish e-commerce continues and in September sales decreased by 19 percent. This is evident from Svensk Handel's latest e-commerce barometer.
- September was another incredibly dark month for e-commerce in Sweden, and undoubtedly one of the worst months for a long time, says Per Ljungberg, head of innovation at Swedish Trade.
It is mainly categories for the home that are affected by the reduced purchasing power of households. In fashion and sports, however, things look better, where sales increased by 10 and 12 percent, respectively. However, a large part is inflation-driven.
Even the quarter as a whole showed red numbers despite strong summer months. It is the eighth quarter in a row with declining sales and now the hope is for Black Week and Christmas shopping.
