Task: Tesla is to build a budget variant in Germany 

Tesla is to start manufacturing a cheaper model for 25,000 euros in its factory outside Berlin. This is reported by Reuters and refers to a source.  

 

The price tag, which corresponds to approximately SEK 292,000, is significantly lower than the company's Model 3, which costs just over SEK 500,000. 

 

Elon Musk has long hinted at a cheaper electric car, but said in 2022 that the right technology was still missing. In September, sources told Reuters the automaker was approaching a new technology that would cut costs significantly.  

 

An expansion to the mass market is crucial if Tesla is to achieve its goal of increasing deliveries to 20 million vehicles by 2030, writes the news agency.

Tesla raises German wages - pressured by unions  

Tesla is to raise wages for the workers in the company's large factory outside Berlin. The electric car manufacturer is being pressured by the German trade union IG Metall, but also by the Swedish strike, writes WSJ.  

 

Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited the factory on Friday and then announced that the 11,000 who work there will receive a 4 percent wage increase in November, according to sources to the newspaper. In addition, they will receive a bonus of 1,500 euros, corresponding to roughly 17,000 kroner, in December. 

 

The salary increase comes in the wake of increased tension between Tesla and IG Metall, writes the business newspaper.  

 

Swedish IF Metall resumes negotiations with Tesla today.
