Iranian Media: US Attacks Civilian InfrastructureBy
Iran has responded to US attacks overnight. Several US targets have been hit, including in Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, Reuters reports.
It is the sixth night in a row that the US and Iran have attacked each other after Donald Trump said last week that the ceasefire was over.
The US says it targeted military targets in Iran overnight, while Iranian state media says civilian infrastructure has been hit – including bridges, a train station and an airport. The BBC writes that it has managed to verify an attack on a bridge in Hormozgan province in southwestern Iran.
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, seven people have been killed in the US attacks.
Earlier this week, Trump threatened to attack bridges and power plants if Iran does not return to the negotiating table. Neither the White House nor the military command Centcom have commented on the BBC's information.
China and Pakistan call on US and Iran to agree to a new ceasefire
In a joint statement, China and Pakistan are calling on Iran and the US to agree to a new ceasefire and return to the negotiating table, reports the AFP news agency.
The statement comes after the foreign ministers of the two Asian countries met in Shanghai on Thursday. According to Reuters, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi believes that Iran and the US should fulfill the commitments they agreed to in the memorandum of understanding signed in June, but which subsequently appears to have been broken.
On Friday, the US and Iran exchanged attacks for the sixth day in a row, writes CNN.
