Several US fighter jets were damaged in Iran's latest attacks on an air base in Jordan, according to sources to CBS News.

Around eight F-15 fighter jets suffered minor damage in the attack on the Muwaffaq Salti base, anonymous sources with insight said.

In addition, an A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, often called the "Warthog", was hit. That plane is now reported to be missing a wing.

The Iranian attack on Wednesday night took place after the US attacked five Iranian tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. US forces in Jordan fired over 30 Patriot missiles in an attempt to repel the Iranian attack, according to CBS News.

The US military has not commented on the matter.
