Trump: Iran War Will End Right After Election

US President Donald Trump says the war against Iran will end "right after" the midterm elections in November. Reuters reports.

Trump claims that Tehran tried to influence the election, but that the country "cannot hold out any longer". Trump also says that he is doing "much more than a nuclear deal" when it comes to Iran.

Oil prices, which rose more than 2 percent during the day and reached over $100 per barrel for the first time since July, will not go down again until after the election, Trump says.

Europe is warned: Russia can strike without consequences

Europe is doing too little to deter Russia from hybrid attacks, warn defense and intelligence sources that the Financial Times has spoken to. A thwarted drone attack on Leipzig airport is seen as a sign that Moscow can act without meeting sufficient resistance.

– It is quite obvious that we are not doing enough to deter provocations that are not serious enough to trigger Article 5, a senior defense source told the newspaper.

NATO is now being urged to review how the alliance deals with sabotage, cyberattacks and other Russian attempts at influence, among other things.

New York has published more than 170,000 documents about the air quality in the city after the September 11 attacks, several media outlets report.

Asbestos was discovered “almost everywhere” around the fallen towers and remained there for months, but local authorities still repeatedly lied to residents that the air was safe, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

– People got sick because the leaders they trusted lied and said it was safe to breathe toxic air, he says.

According to US authorities, diseases linked to the smoke and air pollution have claimed more lives than the attacks themselves. 49,000 cancer cases have been linked to it.

EU gives Spain 1.2 billion in aid after the Ceuta crisis

The EU Commission will give Spain the equivalent of just over 1.2 billion kronor in aid after the migrant crisis in the exclave of Ceuta at the end of July. Reuters reports.

The money will, among other things, go to “security-related infrastructure” such as thermal cameras and underwater drones. It will also go to measures to send people who have remained in Ceuta illegally back to Morocco.

– The situation in Ceuta has put pressure on our external borders, says EU Commission Vice-President Henna Virkkunen according to AFP.

Zelenskyj in Norway for funeral and arms talks

On Tuesday evening, Volodymyr Zelenskyj landed in Oslo, Norwegian media report. Tomorrow he will attend King Harald's funeral, but he is mainly there to discuss air defense.
