Hottest summer in Spain – again

Spain has this year recorded its hottest summer since measurements began in 1961, the national weather agency Aemet announced.

A total of 61 days of heatwave were recorded during June, July and August, according to the report, which concerns mainland Spain.

The average temperature during the three summer months was 24.5 degrees, which according to Aemet is 0.3 degrees higher than the previous highest record from 2025.

It is also 2.4 degrees higher than the reference period 1991-2020.
