Speaker chaos in the USA
Analysis: Lacking a counterpart – the US out in uncharted waters
The vote that ended in the ouster of the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, is unprecedented, writes New York Times White House reporter Carl Hulse in the newspaper's live reporting.
The chamber is in "chaos" and now the parties must come up with new candidates, he states. Hulse sees it as unlikely that McCarthy would try to regain the role, since "eight hard-line Republicans" have just forced him out.

The bus accident in Venice
The bus fell over ten meters - caught fire on the ground
It is still unclear what caused the fatal bus accident outside Venice on Tuesday evening, Ansa reports. According to the Italian news agency, there are no signs that the bus was braked before it fell from a viaduct.
One possible theory is that the driver suffered from some type of medical condition.
The bus must have fallen over ten meters and then caught fire. 21 people have been confirmed dead. Two of the victims are children, writes La Repubblica.
There were several foreign tourists on the bus. There is no information that Swedish citizens were involved.
