Democratic concern that "Bidenomics" could backfire
Joe Biden's re-election campaign has placed parts of its focus on talking about the strong American economy, but now the strategy risks a setback, writes. Axios. The party uses the slogan "Bidenomics" to show how well things are going for the United States under the leadership of Biden. However, voters are not entirely satisfied with the economic situation.
- I have never understood why you name an economy after you when the economy has not yet recovered, says Michael LaRosa, former spokesperson for first lady Jill Biden, to Politics.
Axios recently noted that several surveys show a decline in the citizens' view of private economic development.

McCarthy after the impeachment threat: "Come on then"
US Speaker Kevin McCarthy takes right-wing Republican Matt Gaetz's impeachment threat in stride. "Bring it on" - roughly "come on then" - he urges, according to CNN.
- I'll survive. This is personal for Matt [...] He's more interested in TV interviews than actually getting anything done.
Earlier Sunday, Gaetz promised to introduce a motion to impeach McCarthy. One Republican member -- Eli Crane -- has endorsed him, and more are said to be considering it.
Assuming all Democrats in the House of Representatives vote yes, six Republican members are needed to remove the Speaker.

Fraud charges against Trump in court: "The case is a hoax"
Today, a new trial begins against former US President Donald Trump and two of his sons, ABC reports. According to the news channel's sources, Trump will be present in court.
Prosecutor Letitia James accuses Trump, his sons and his companies of inflating the Republican's net worth by more than $2 billion. In that way, he must have received better insurance and loan terms than he was actually entitled to. The judge in the case has already sentenced Trump and the sons. What the trial is now about is the $250 million that the prosecutor believes Trump should pay in fines.
Trump himself saw the prosecution, according to AFP. "This whole case is a hoax," he writes on his social media platform Truth Social.
