The first trucks roll into Gaza after a long wait
The first trucks with humanitarian aid to Gaza have crossed the Egyptian border crossing Rafah, several media reports. Hundreds of trucks have been parked at the border waiting for the green light. According to AP, the vehicles are loaded with supplies of around 3,000 tons.
According to AFP and CNN reporters on the ground, 20 trucks with medicines and canned goods were allowed through before the border crossing was closed again.
- This first convoy to Gaza must not be the last, says UN chief Martin Griffiths.
On Saturday, leaders and ministers from the Middle East and Europe will meet in Cairo to discuss, among other things, how the humanitarian aid will reach the residents of Gaza safely, writes Bloomberg.

Tuna and medicines for Gaza - UN: Does not cover the urgent needs
The first convoy of supplies to the Gaza Strip contains 60 tonnes of food, according to the UN's World Food Programme. The 20 trucks that were let through the Egyptian border crossing contain, among other things, canned tuna, flour, pasta and beans. Medicines are also included in the load.
The organization's top director, Cindy McCain, says in a statement that the delivery is coming at the last moment and that it is only a matter of days before the food runs out in Gaza, writes Al Jazeera. The UN has previously said that at least 100 trucks a day would be required to cover the urgent needs in Gaza, writes Reuters.
- The question is whether this is a first round and that there will be more trucks tomorrow, or whether this is all that will be released across the border in the next few days, says TV4's reporter Jona Källgren, who is on site at the border crossing.
Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for Israel's army, says at the same time that there are no current deliveries of fuel to Gaza.

Rocket from Gaza appears to have deviated from its course - likely caused explosion
A rocket that went off course was probably the cause of the hospital explosion in Gaza on Tuesday, according to the AP. The news agency has analyzed more than a dozen images. The analyzes show how several rockets lit up the sky over Gaza shortly before 19:00 on Tuesday evening. But one of the rockets came off its trajectory and broke apart in mid-air before finally plunging to the ground.
A few seconds later, video footage shows a large explosion in the same area at al-Ahli Hospital.
AP writes that the rocket in question was fired from Palestinian territory and that the explosion at the hospital is believed to have been caused by a falling part of that rocket.
The news agency notes that there is no definitive evidence for what was behind the explosion because there is a lack of technical evidence.

France: No evidence that Israel carried out hospital attack
Like the United States, the French intelligence service DRM claims that there is no evidence that the hospital explosion in Gaza was caused by an Israeli attack. According to the DRM, the impact crater was too small to have been caused by an Israeli robot.
"The most likely hypothesis is that a Palestinian rocket exploded with a charge of around five kilograms."
Hamas has blamed Israel for the explosion, while Israel has claimed that a misdirected attack by the Palestinian terrorist organization Islamic Jihad is behind it.
