Iran shows new ballistic robot - can reach Israel

Iran has displayed a new weapon at a military parade commemorating Iraq's invasion of the country in 1980.

According to state television, it is a ballistic robot, called Jihad, manufactured by the powerful Revolutionary Guard's space division and with a range of 100 miles. This means it can hit Israel, as the two arch-rivals at the shortest distance are about 100 miles apart.

The AP news agency writes that Jihad appears to be a more advanced version of the latest Qiam robot, which was presented in 2021 and was then said to have a range of around 80 miles.

Iran often presents new technological advances for its armed forces. The United States, however, has flagged that such activities may violate a UN Security Council resolution, which calls on Iran not to conduct any activity related to ballistic robots that could carry nuclear weapons.
