The elections in Venezuela
The opposition: Forced to recognize Maduro's victory

Venezuelan opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia says he was forced to sign a letter admitting Nicolás Maduro won the election. This is reported by AFP.

Maduro's aides reportedly delivered the letter to the Spanish embassy in Caracas, where González Urrutia was staying. González Urrutia was faced with signing or "take the consequences", he says himself on X.

Just hours after the polls closed, Maduro was declared the winner with 52 percent of the vote. According to the US, however, there is overwhelming evidence that González Urrutia won the election.

González Urrutia fled Venezuela a few days after a court issued an arrest warrant against him.

The cannabis debate
Study: Pet owners give their dogs cannabis oil

Danish dog owners increasingly choose to use cannabis oil to cure pain or behavioral problems in their dogs, despite the fact that it is illegal for veterinarians to prescribe the preparations to the animals. This is clear from a new Danish study, reports SVT Nyheter.

- Society in general has taken a more liberal attitude towards cannabis products, and the availability of preparations has increased. It spills over to the animals, says Henrik Rönnberg, professor of veterinary pharmacology at the Swedish University of Agriculture.

He says that he sees a similar tendency in Sweden as well.

The submarine wreck of the Titanic
The submarine Titan had a "malfunction" in the days before the last dive

The Titan submersible had a "malfunction" during a dive just days before the accident that killed five people last year. This is stated by the company Ocean Gate's scientific director Steven Ross during an interrogation today, according to Sky News.

The fault caused the passengers to "tumble around" inside the craft, and it took the company an hour to get them out of the water.

Ross also states that shortly before the accident, he asked Ocean Gate owner Stockton Rush how many dives he thought the Titan would last before needing restoration.

- He answered: unlimited.

Stockton Rush died along with four other people on board during a dive near the wreck of the Titanic in June 2023.

Mohamed Al Fayed is accused of several rapes

Five women accuse former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed of raping them while they worked at the luxury London department store. Many more are believed to have been subjected to various types of abuse and sexual harassment. It appears in a new documentary and podcast from the BBC.

The rapes are said to have taken place in London, Paris, Abu Dhabi and Saint-Tropez.

- I was clear that I did not want to. I did not give my consent. I just wanted it to end, says one of the women, who says Fayed raped her in his flat on Park Lane in London.

Another woman says that Fayed raped her when she was a teenager.

— Mohamed Al Fayed was a monster, a sexual beast, completely without a moral compass.

Mohamed Al Fayed died last year and the BBC writes that it is only now that many women dare to speak openly about the events. He has previously been accused of sexual abuse but the scope and seriousness of the allegations are on a new level.
