Extreme weather in Europe

Boris gets Viktor Orbán to cancel important EU speech

Storm Boris, which among other things hit Hungary hard, causes the country's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to cancel his speech in the European Parliament, reports Politico.

"Due to extreme weather conditions and flooding in Hungary, I have postponed all my international commitments," Orbán said in a statement.

The newspaper writes that the speech in Strasbourg was expected to be dramatic. It would be the first from a prime minister belonging to the newly formed right-wing group Patriots for Europe and the first clash between Orbán and domestic opponent Peter Magyar.
