The US hopes that Sweden will continue to help conduct dialogue with North Korea. Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, spoke about the relationship with the dictatorship at a press conference on Monday.

Source: Netanyahu to fire Defense Minister Gallant

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant "in the near future", according to information provided to the Israeli public service channel KAN News.

The background is that Netanyahu and Gallant disagree on the amendment to the law requiring ultra-Orthodox Jews to do military service. Another explanation, which is raised in DN, is that Gallant is against a major military operation in Lebanon.

A source in the prime minister's staff says that the intended replacement for Gallant is Gideon Sa'ar, who previously held several ministerial posts. The rumors are said to have caused several hundred protesters to gather outside Sa'ar's home to demand an agreement with terror-labeled Hamas for the release of the hostages.

The Prime Minister's staff has dismissed the rumors that Gallant is hanging loose as "false", writes the Jerusalem Post.

Russian man arrested in the US - allegedly sent home drone parts

A Russian citizen living in Florida has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling, money laundering and illegal exports, Reuters reports, citing a statement from the US Department of Justice.

After Russia's full-scale invasion two years ago, the man is said to have sent home technology that can be used to manufacture drones. Prosecutor Matthew Graves said in a statement that the technology the man is suspected of exporting to Russia could strengthen the country's ability to wage war in Ukraine.

The man is accused of being part of a network that buys technology from American companies to deliver it to Russia.

Georgia adopts LGBTQ law inspired by Russia

For the second time this year, Georgia's parliament has passed a law inspired by Russian precedents. The law that was adopted on Tuesday limits the rights of LGBTQ people, writes AFP.

The law makes it illegal to "propagate for same-sex relationships and incest" in educational materials and in television broadcasts. The law is basically the same as Russia passed in 2013, which severely limited the rights of LGBTQ people.

Earlier this year, the country passed a law requiring organizations and people receiving money from abroad to register as foreign agents. The laws have caused major protests and critics say they bring the country closer to Russia.

Next month, a parliamentary election will be held in Georgia, described as a crossroads between the West and Russia.
