Expert warns of copycats: "Stochastic terrorism"
There is a great risk of so-called copycats after the two assassination attempts on presidential candidate Donald Trump. Security analyst and former FBI agent Clint Watts tells NBC News.

- We are in a period of what we can call stochastic terrorism. We know who the target is but we don't know who can strike, and therefore we have few details about the threat picture, he says.

The FBI is investigating Sunday night's incident as a suspected attempted murder. 58-year-old Ryan Routh is singled out for having been armed and waiting for Trump at the Republican's golf club in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred just over two months after a bullet grazed Trump's ear during a campaign speech in Pennsylvania.

Routh's Neighbor: He was a bit crazy - a lot of people were scared

Ryan Routh, who is singled out as the suspected perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Trump, was "a little crazy". This is what a woman who lived next door to him for almost 20 years in Greensboro, North Carolina told Fox, according to several media outlets.

The neighbor describes Routh as unusual, but says she never thought he would be involved in something like this. However, she is not surprised that weapons were present:

- I myself have seen the weapons and everything, and yes, they had a lot of weapons and stuff over there, and yes, a lot of people were afraid of him back in the day.

The last time the neighbor spoke to Routh was in May, before he moved to Hawaii.

On Sunday, the FBI announced that it is investigating what is suspected to be an assassination attempt on Donald Trump after a gunman was discovered at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect who was arrested is identified as 58-year-old Ryan Routh.

Key question for investigators: How did Ryan Routh know Trump was going to play golf?

How 58-year-old Ryan Routh, who has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of Donald Trump, knew that the ex-president was going to play golf right then and there is one of the questions that investigators should now ask themselves. That's what journalist and former policeman John Miller says in CNN's broadcast.

According to the channel's sources, the round of golf that Trump played when the Secret Service discovered the gunman was not planned in advance but a "last minute decision".

- How he knew he was going to be on that golf course at that time and on that day is one of the key questions that the FBI and the Secret Service must get answers to, says Miller, emphasizing that Trump's travels and movements will not be known to the public.

Kremlin: "Playing with fire has consequences"

The suspected assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Sunday is a clear indication of how the election campaign in the United States is "intensifying", says Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov according to AFP.

On Monday, he was asked what he thought about the incident, to which Peskov replied:

- It is not us who should think, it is the American intelligence service who should think. In any case, playing with fire has consequences, he says.

The comment was described by Reuters as a "clear reference" to US support for Ukraine.
