Death toll in Zimbabwe ferry disaster rises

The death toll after a ferry capsized on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe has risen to 68. Several bodies were found on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Tuesday in severe weather. Another 22 bodies were found on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 68, police said.

Most of the victims were locals and fishmongers who live around the lake. The boat had room for 90 people, but at the time of the accident there were 114 adults, crew and an unknown number of children on board. 77 people are said to have been rescued.

Lake Kariba is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
