South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung wants to see new talks with North Korea to formally end the Korean War.

In a speech during a celebration of Korean freedom from colonial power Japan, Lee urged North Korea to meet for peace talks.

– Let us, as those directly involved, end our threats against each other and start discussing an end to this long war, he said, continuing:

The Korean War ended in practice with an armistice agreement in 1953, but North and South Korea are technically still at war.
