EU foreign policy chief: We welcome the ceasefire – once it holds

The EU is clearly skeptical regarding the "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine announced by US President Donald Trump.

"We welcome the energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine once it holds. We have not yet seen that Russia will actually abide by it," says EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas upon arriving at today's meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

EU countries are also expected to finalize new sanctions today against more than 1,600 individuals, organizations, and companies accused of supporting Russia's war effort in Ukraine.

"We are staying the course. We see that only pressure on Russia works," says Kallas.

An agreement is also expected on launching an EU mission to train soldiers and security personnel in Lebanon, partly to replace the UN mission that is set to conclude soon.
