Bombing follows total confusion

"ENERGY TRUCE in the war between Russia and Ukraine," Trump wrote.

Is there one? Zelenskyy wondered.

Then Putin bombed.

Sunday’s total confusion began with a post on Truth Social by Donald Trump.

In it, the American president declared that Ukraine and Russia had agreed on an "energy truce" that would take effect immediately.

Energy infrastructure—vital as the Eastern European winter approaches—was not to be attacked.

"That was news to me," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Axios reporter Barak Ravid.

He continued:

"But if Russia agrees to a truce regarding energy, Ukraine will too. If President Trump has negotiated this with Putin, please let us know when the truce takes effect. We are ready and will accept it."

**Dual attacks**

Russia has not yet commented on Trump’s statement. However, shortly after the post, Russia bombed two combined heat and power plants, ABC News reports.

According to Zelenskyy, energy facilities in both Kyiv and Kharkiv have been attacked. Reports to ABC News indicate that one of them was hit at least twice.

**"Get a new president"**

Donald Trump has launched fierce attacks against Zelenskyy in recent days, stating that Ukraine "should get a new president." According to Trump, Zelenskyy has refused to agree to end attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy dismisses this claim. "Give us two months, 60 days, of a complete ceasefire, and we will hold elections," he says in an interview with ABC.
