Following Trump’s deal: Russian diesel bound for the US
A tanker carrying Russian diesel is currently sailing toward New York, according to the analytics firm Kpler, as reported by AFP.
The Malta-flagged vessel *Agioi Fanendes* is currently off the coast of Helsinki, bound for New York. According to Kpler’s data, the tanker was loaded with nearly 300,000 barrels of diesel on Thursday at the Russian oil terminal in Primorsk, on the Gulf of Finland.
The Kremlin, through spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, has confirmed that an initial tanker is en route to the US, reports Ansa. It is expected to arrive on November 7.
The departure follows a diesel deal with Russia—brokered by US President Donald Trump—that has drawn sharp criticism. According to Trump, Russia is set to supply a total of nearly 36 million barrels of diesel—amounting to as much as 4.8 million tonnes—to "the American and global market."
Ukraine and its allies have reacted with anger to the agreement, which critics argue will only serve to prolong the war.
