Sources: Trump asked Musk to lift Starlink restrictions
Donald Trump has called Elon Musk and asked him to lift restrictions on Starlink in Ukraine, government sources told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). According to American and Ukrainian sources, the system appeared to be functioning more normally on Thursday, shortly after the call.
The WSJ reported earlier this week that Elon Musk had ordered the restrictions on Starlink in Ukraine. The decision reportedly caused panic in Kyiv and confusion within the Trump administration.
The restrictions prevented Ukrainian drones from flying faster than 160 kilometers per hour, which significantly impacted their offensive and defensive capabilities.
Russia strikes Kyiv – immediately following announcement regarding negotiations
At least 21 ballistic missiles have been fired at Kyiv since Wednesday evening, according to the AP.
One person was reportedly killed, and six others were injured.
The attacks began just hours after Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is prepared to participate in new trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine.
"When Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, the world must exert real pressure," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X.
Sybiha: "Humanitarian" Putin bombed us again
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has expressed strong criticism after Donald Trump’s peace negotiator, Steve Witkoff, referred to Vladimir Putin as a "humanitarian" during peace talks in Russia on Wednesday.
On X, he wrote about the Russian attacks on the capital, Kyiv, that took place overnight. He writes that the residents got to see what the “humanitarian” Putin really stands for.
“A brutal attack involving several ballistic missiles that struck energy infrastructure, healthcare facilities, shopping centers, and residential areas.”
He writes that a policy of appeasement and flattery will not bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
