Putin: Not interested in a "short ceasefire"
Russia is prepared to resume tripartite talks with Ukraine and the United States—but only if certain clear conditions are met.
This is the message from President Vladimir Putin, delivered in an interview with Russian state television on Thursday evening, according to AFP.
"The goal of these discussions would be to address the issue of guaranteeing security for both Ukraine and Russia, within the framework of a final agreement," Putin said, adding that he is not interested in "any kind of short pause in the fighting."
These comments follow a visit to Putin in St. Petersburg on Wednesday by Steve Witkoff, an envoy for the United States. Following the visit, the Kremlin stated that Russia is open to new talks starting in mid-November, although only at a technical level.
