Russia is preparing for years of war in Ukraine, according to the Brittish Ministry of Defence.

In 2024, 30 percent of the Russian state budget will go to the war, according to leaked documents cited by the Ministry of Defense.

"It is very likely that Russia can manage this in 2024, but only at the expense of the rest of the economy," writes the British Ministry of Defence.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov has previously admitted that defense spending is increasing, but he then claimed that other areas of the state budget are also getting more money, according to the  exiled  Russian newspaper  Meduza.

The leaked documents surrounding the Russian defense budget show that six percent of Russia's gross domestic product - 10.8 trillion rubles, which is equivalent to 1,200 billion kroner - will be spent on the war in 2023, according to the British Ministry of Defence. That is 68 percent more than the year before.

Recently, Russian Defense Minister Sergej Sjojgu has said that he estimates that the war in Ukraine will last until 2025, according to Meduza.

At the same time, information comes from Great Britain that the country may send military personnel to Ukraine, to train Ukrainian troops on site.

British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps told The Telegraph newspaper that he had spoken to senior army officials about moving "training and production of military equipment" to western Ukraine.

Dmitry Medvedev, who is vice-chairman of Russia's Security Council, went on the counterattack on Sunday, calling Shapps a "cretin" and stating that British instructors on Ukrainian soil will "turn into a legal target" for the Russian army, writes Meduza.

Later on Sunday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak clarified that sending British military personnel to Ukraine is out of the question, according to the BBC.
