10,000 residents in Iran have been left without drinking water after the US's nightly attacks.

This prompted Iran to threaten "full-scale retaliation".

Now the US confirms that two American soldiers have been killed by Iran in Jordan.

After a week of new attacks between the US and Iran, things escalated during the night towards Saturday. The US attacks have led to, among other things, 20 Iranian villages with a total of 10,000 residents being without drinking water. This is what the CEO of the water and sewage company in the province of Hormozgan writes on Telegram.

A pumping station is said to have been destroyed during the attack and the villages are now facing an acute water crisis, the CEO writes.

Meanwhile, a desalination plant in Kuwait was hit in an Iranian attack, Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said in a statement. A fire reportedly broke out at the facility, but the water supply is not threatened.

Two American soldiers killed in Jordan

On Saturday evening, Centcom, the US military command, announced on social media that two American soldiers had been killed in combat in Jordan.

The soldiers were killed when the forces defended themselves against Iranian attacks with drones and ballistic missiles. Another American soldier is missing. Four American soldiers were urgently taken to a hospital in Jordan, but have been discharged.

Civilians affected

According to Iranian state media, at least eight people have been killed and civilian infrastructure damaged, including a tunnel and a bridge, in American attacks on Saturday night. The Revolutionary Guard also claims that two tankers collided with mines placed in the Strait of Hormuz, which led to explosions and fires.

Centcom, for its part, claims that this is false information. However, the BBC can confirm, through verification of video footage, that at least one bridge in northern Iran has been damaged. Something that could constitute a war crime, according to the Geneva Convention.

May enter a “new phase”

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard threatens to enter a new phase of “full-scale offensive” if the US attacks continue for two or three more days.

– Iran will no longer limit itself to retaliation with comparable responses ... and no political borders will be safe, he says, according to the state television channel Irib.

Last week’s attacks come after the US and Iran signed an agreement aimed at re-establishing a ceasefire and resuming talks to end the war.
