Middle East Crisis Iran War

US launches new attacks on Iran

The US is launching new attacks on Iran, according to the US Central Command.

The new wave of attacks was carried out at around 9pm, Swedish time, and aims to “continue to degrade Iran’s military capabilities,” Centcom wrote on X.

This is the seventh day in a row that the US has launched attacks on Iran.

BBC analysis shows that the US hit civilian infrastructure

US attacks on Iran overnight on Saturday damaged civilian infrastructure – including bridges and a tunnel. This was claimed by the state-run Iranian news agency Irib according to CNN.

The US Central Command, in turn, said that the attacks had targeted “military logistical infrastructure, underground weapons depots and naval capabilities,” the BBC wrote.

Meanwhile, the US has denied Iranian allegations that it hit several bridges, a train station and an airport in an earlier attack. However, the BBC has verified, using video footage, that at least one bridge in northern Iran has been damaged.

According to the Geneva Conventions, attacks on civilian infrastructure can constitute war crimes.
