Trump: Negotiations have indeed begun with Iran
US President Donald Trump writes in a post on Truth Social that Iran's leaders are "unbelievably lying".
In the post, he writes that Iran has asked for a meeting with the US, that talks have begun and more have been planned, but that Iran denies that discussions are taking place.
Iran has rejected Trump's previous comments that talks between the US and Iran are to begin on Monday.
Trump also writes about the US blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, which he calls "the US steel wall".
"Nothing is coming to Iran if we don't want it to, and nothing will come unless we succeed in a deal, or complete surrender."

Iran is expected to rely on the world economy to win the war against the US, writes Reuters. Sources the news agency spoke to say that Iranian leaders believe that Donald Trump will eventually back down. At least if he is pressured enough.
Michael Knights of the Washington Institute think tank agrees that Iran has an advantage, given how the war has developed.
“Since the beginning, Iran has escalated the pressure on the United States by shifting perspectives: a new geography, a new kind of weapon, a new target,” he says.
To achieve this, the Iranian regime has also recently exploited the vulnerability of neighboring countries and the global economy.
“Both sides have so far met escalation with escalation,” says former adviser Ray Takeyh, who warns, however, that such tactics can easily backfire.
