The EU misses its artillery promise: "Ukraine needs more support"
The EU countries will not succeed in the goal of supplying Ukraine with one million artillery shells before March, foreign minister Josep Borrell says according to AFP.
Instead, it is about 500,000 this spring, but there could be as much during 2024 as the member countries' production ramps up.
He urges the countries to act faster and with more force because the "battles on the front line" are fierce.
- And Ukraine needs more support.
Similar calls are heard from Germany, which gives Ukraine the most support.

Sources: The commander-in-chief refused to resign of his own accord
Ukraine's commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny refused to resign when asked by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Monday. It is reported by several media with reference to sources with transparency.
According to the Financial Times, Zaluzzhny was offered to become a military adviser instead. He declined, despite Zelenskyy making it clear that his time as commander-in-chief is coming to an end.
Intense rumors have surrounded Zaluzhny in recent weeks over the rift with Zelenskyi. The two have disagreed over, among other things, Zaluzhny's comment that the war against Russia is in a frozen phase.
Zelenskyi's office has denied reports that the president wants to fire Zaluzhny.

Political situation in France
Farmers in Spain and Belgium are now joining the French farmers protesting the agricultural policy, reports AFP and Reuters. In Belgium, farmers will block the large container port in Zeebrugge for at least a day and a half starting this afternoon.
The anger applies to everything from EU rules regarding when you can sow and harvest, to fuel prices and competition from goods imported from countries with lower environmental requirements.
- They are forcing EU rules on us that cannot be followed, says the Belgian protester Florian Myson to the newspaper La Libre.
In Spain, the country's three largest farmers' unions announce that they will join, but when this will happen is not known.

Macron: It would be too easy to blame everything on Europe
Emmanuel Macron warns against blaming all of agriculture's problems on EU policy. Some of the problems are "structural and cyclical", according to him.
- It would be too easy to blame everything on Europe, says the French president during a press conference in connection with the state visit to Sweden.
The French political leadership is now trying to carefully maneuver through the anger that has flared up among the country's farmers, just months before the elections to the European Parliament in June, writes Politico.
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has partly agreed with the farmers' criticism of Brussels, but has also pointed out that the EU grants constitute important support for the industry.
