The summer of 2024 was the warmest on record

The EU's climate service Copernicus states that the summer of 2024 is the hottest ever recorded. This is reported by several media.

"Over the past three months, the world has experienced the hottest June and August, the hottest day on record and the hottest Northern Hemisphere summer on record," said Samantha Burgess, deputy director at Copernicus, in a press release.

The figures suggest that the year as a whole could be the warmest on record.

Super typhoon Yagi roars ahead - China prepares for chaos

Residents of the Chinese island of Hainan are preparing for the arrival of the giant typhoon Yagi. This is reported by several media.

Windows are taped up and sandbag barriers are built and in Hong Kong schools and banks are closed. In total, at least 400,000 residents are evacuated.

At least five people are said to have been injured as a result of the typhoon. Over 100 flights have been canceled due to torrential rain and strong winds.

Earlier this week, Yagi took at least 13 lives in the Philippines, writes TT. At the time, the storm was categorized as a tropical storm.
