Swedish tracked vehicle is being sawed off: “Constantly breaking down”

Sweden’s military contribution has been praised by Ukraine, but according to drivers, soldiers, mechanics and officers that SvD spoke to, there is one exception.

Before using the Pansarbandvagn 302, the Ukrainians were optimistic. After it was tested in combat, other voices were heard. Hopeless, ineffective and they have to be repaired after every other mission, says Serhij, driver and mechanic in the 35th Marine Corps Brigade.

– They are slow, vulnerable and constantly breaking down.

Defence Minister Pål Jonson (M) writes to the newspaper that Ukraine has requested splinter-protected transport vehicles, and that Sweden could spare the 302 armoured vehicle.

Sources: Starmer called the White House immediately after the argument

Immediately after Friday night's big argument between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer got on the phone to try to sort out the argument. This is what British government sources told Bloomberg reporter Alex Wickham.

Starmer called both the White House and Zelensky and tried to urge the parties not to cancel the meeting. However, this was reportedly met with deaf ears from the White House, which insisted that emotions needed to cool down before talks could resume.

The British government is reportedly "desperately" trying to position itself as a mediator between Europe and the US, and Starmer is trying to "do everything" to repair the relationship between Trump and Zelensky.

Zelensky and Starmer are due to meet on Saturday evening. The meeting will be followed by a larger summit on Sunday and, according to British press reports, Zelensky is also due to meet King Charles tomorrow.

NATO chief: Zelensky must repair relationship

It is unfortunate that the meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky crashed, NATO chief Mark Rutte told the BBC.

Rutte says that Ukraine must now repair the relationship, and that he has conveyed that message twice.

– It is important that President Zelensky finds a way to restore the relationship with the American president and the leadership.

He also says that Donald Trump deserves praise because the United States allowed Ukraine to buy anti-tank missiles in 2017-2020.

Starmer welcomes Zelensky: "Stand with you until the end"

Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived at 10 Downing Street where he was welcomed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The meeting takes place exactly one day after Zelensky's big fight with Donald Trump in the White House. Starmer says that Ukraine has Britain's "absolute and unwavering support."

- You have the whole of Britain behind you, and we stand with you and Ukraine for as long as it takes.

Zelensky thanked for the support and also thanked King Charles III for the invitation to a meeting on Sunday. He also says that he is optimistic about Sunday's summit, which, among others, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) will participate in.

- We are very happy to have such partners and friends, said Zelensky before the meeting continued behind closed doors.

Ukrainians on the row: Trump seems to be Putin's friend

It seems that Washington is on Russia's side, rather than ours. That's what 26-year-old Ukrainian Dmytro told the BBC after Friday night's row between Zelensky and Trump at the White House.

Several other Ukrainian citizens agree with him. One says that Trump "seems to be Russia's friend" and another says that it's hard to understand.

- Europe should be a much more attractive partner, both economically and strategically, says the Ukrainian who wants to remain anonymous.

DN's reporters on the ground have also asked Ukrainians what they think of the situation. Vita Mazur believes that Putin may have bought Trump's loyalty.

- It's clear that what happened makes Putin stronger. We have to fight even harder for ourselves now, she says.

Body language is visible: “It could be strategic”

Various gestures, crossed arms and no eye contact. The interrupted meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyj contained more than just harsh words, says Paul Boross, a body language expert, to Sky News.

The communicator believes that Zelenskyj and Trump displayed completely different body language. Trump raised his voice and used dominant gestures, while Zelenskyj's body showed passion when he spoke about Putin's actions since 2014.

A key detail from the conversation, according to the expert, was that during the most intense exchange of opinions, they did not look at each other.

– Avoiding eye contact during confrontation can be strategic. It keeps emotions in check.
