FDA approves Eli Lilly's weight loss pill
Novo Nordisk's competitor Eli Lilly has received approval from the FDA for a GLP-1 pill. The pill should be taken once a day, compared to the weekly injection the pharmaceutical company also offers, for those "seeking convenience," says CEO Dave Ricks.
Analysts estimate that the pill, Foundayo, will reach $14.79 billion in sales by 2030, according to Factset.
Eli Lilly's stock rose about 4 percent on Wednesday. Novo Nordisk, which was the first to come out with a GLP-1 pill, fell sharply on the news and then recovered slightly, although still below zero.
