2,000 people are feared dead in floods in eastern Libya as Storm Daniel ravages the Mediterranean. This is according to Osama Hamad, prime minister of the country's rival governments that rule the area, according to AP.
In a telephone interview with Libyan television, Hamad states that the deaths occurred in the city of Darnah, where entire neighborhoods were washed away. He adds that thousands are missing.
Storm Daniel has also killed at least 27 people in Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria in recent days. Experts describe it as "extreme" in terms of how much rain has fallen within 24 hours in the affected areas.
