The world leaders' absence in focus ahead of the G20 meeting  

 

Major lenders and institutions have come some way in restructuring the debts of a number of troubled emerging economies, and the G20 meeting in Delhi next weekend could give the effort a boost, writes Reuters. A worrying cloud in the sky is the information that China's President Xi plans to cancel the meeting. For many debt-ridden economies, China has become the largest bilateral lender, and its reluctance to make major concessions has become a problem. 

 

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden skips the previous Asean summit in Indonesia. In both cases, the absence of the world leaders will be in focus, writes Bloomberg.  

 

A group of business leaders in the G20 has proposed that all companies should contribute to a fund that promotes sustainable development, in line with a proposal put forward by India.  

 

But several countries have also slowed down their commitment to the sustainable global goals, writes the news agency.

Netanyahu wants to deport those involved in the Tel Aviv brawl  

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to deport the Eritreans who were involved in a violent brawl in Tel Aviv, the Jerusalem Post reports.  

At least 160 people were injured when supporters and opponents of the Eritrean regime clashed on Saturday.  

According to a statement, Netanyahu has appointed a ministerial group to review the possibility of deporting migrants who took part in the violence.

At least 20 civilians killed in airstrikes over Khartoum  

At least 20 civilians have been killed in an airstrike over the southern part of Sudan's capital Khartoum, pro-democracy activists say according to AFP. Among the dead are two children. 

At the same time, the real death toll is feared to be higher, as many bodies were badly burned or blown into several parts.  

Since fighting between Sudan's regular army and the paramilitary RSF broke out in April, around 5,000 people are estimated to have been kill.
