Blanck: Biden is safe but the process bothers him
The impeachment process against US President Joe Biden can be seen in part as revenge from the Republicans after Donald Trump was brought before double impeachment courts. Dag Blanck, professor of North American studies, tells TT.
The expert sees it as unlikely that Biden would be convicted, if the process goes so far that he is actually impeached. He believes, however, that it will disrupt the president's campaign before next year's election.
- The process will get a lot of attention when it begins.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, a Republican, announced Tuesday that he supports an impeachment inquiry. It is motivated by the fact that investigations into son Hunter Biden's dealings should have revealed a "culture of corruption" within the Biden administration.

Sources: Trump has pushed for impeachment behind the scenes
Former US President Donald Trump has acted behind the scenes to start a process to impeach Joe Biden over his son Hunter Biden's affairs, reports Politico.
Trump is said to have been in close contact with Elise Stefanik, caucus leader of the Republicans in Congress, who was the first in the top echelons of the party to openly support such a process. According to Politico's sources, they spoke on the phone on Tuesday after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, announced that he was opening an impeachment inquiry against Biden.
On Sunday, Trump dined at his golf club in New Jersey with another ally, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. Among other things, they discussed an impeachment trial against Biden.
