The new election in France
Barnier weathered his first censure from the left

France's conservative Prime Minister Michel Barnier has survived his first no-confidence vote on his 34th day on the job. This is reported by the French media.

The vote of no confidence was directed at him by the left-wing alliance New People's Front, which believes that the composition of the government does not reflect the election results, writes Libération. The left-wing parties received the most votes overall - but would not be able to form a government tolerated by a majority of the National Assembly.

The left accuses Barnier of being dependent on Marine Le Pen's far-right party National Assembly, which with its 125 seats voted against the no confidence. The motion of no confidence received 197 of the 289 votes that had been required to bring down the government.

Brazil's Supreme Court lifts the ban on X

Brazil's Supreme Court lifts the ban on X, reports AFP.

The company bowed in late September to the court's demands by, among other things, appointing a legal representative, paying outstanding fees and deleting the accounts that the court believes have posed a threat to Brazilian democracy.

In April, X was ordered to close over a hundred accounts that questioned whether Jair Bolsonaro lost the 2022 election.

Analysis: The book gives Harris' campaign new ammunition

The legendary Watergate journalist Bob Woodward's new book "War" gives new dimensions to the political dynamics, according to analyzes from CNN and Expressen. Among other things, it is clear how much Joe Biden swears, especially when Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speak.

“Most people might talk differently when they know they are in public. Somehow Woodward seems to be bringing out that private language in a very public way,” writes CNN's Zachary Wolf.

Donald Trump's contact with Vladimir Putin has received the most attention. He is said to have sent covid tests and spoken on the phone seven times since he left the White House in 2021.

"Harris' campaign has just received its own ammunition to fire back at Donald Trump," writes Expressen's Mats Larsson.
