Netanyahu to UN: Move staff immediately

Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu is calling on the United Nations to immediately move its peacekeeping personnel from combat zones in Lebanon. This is reported by Reuters and AFP.

According to Netanyahu, the military has asked UN forces to evacuate the area several times. He says their presence makes them "hostages of Hezbollah".

The statement comes after at least five people from the UN peacekeeping forces, UNIFIL, were injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon, writes AFP. The UN has previously said the peacekeepers will remain and Unifil has accused Israel of deliberately shelling their posts.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told US counterpart Lloyd Austin that Israel should work to ensure that UN forces in Lebanon are not harmed.

Another UN person injured in attack in Lebanon

Another person belonging to the UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, Unifil, has been injured after being fired upon by the Israeli military, writes Reuters. According to Unifil, the man's condition is stable and he has undergone surgery to remove the bullet.

The shelling is said to have taken place on Friday, the same day that two other people from Unifil were injured in an Israeli attack near the UN base Naqoura in southern Lebanon.

The UN Secretary General and several Western countries have condemned the attacks on UN posts. Unifil has called it a "serious development".

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says according to AFP that Israel must take measures to avoid harming personnel from the UN peacekeeping forces.

At the same time, the Lebanese Red Cross writes on X that their paramedics were slightly injured in an Israeli attack in Sirbine in southern Lebanon. The paramedics were there to help the injured in an earlier attack when the site was hit once more.

"The volunteers were taken to hospital and are in good condition," writes the Red Cross, adding that volunteers who try to rescue the injured must always be protected.

Task: Mosque completely destroyed in Israeli airstrike

A mosque in southern Lebanon has been completely destroyed in an Israeli airstrike, Lebanese media reports according to AFP.

"At 3:45 a.m. the enemy plane carried out an airstrike against the old mosque in the center of the village of Kfar Tebnit and completely destroyed it," writes the Lebanese National News Agency.

In addition, there are reports that during the night on two occasions there were clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli soldiers who tried to "infiltrate" a community on the border with Lebanon. Hezbollah is said to have used explosive charges against Israeli soldiers near the border town of Ramia.

Hezbollah has also claimed attacks against Israeli soldiers in Lebanon and on the Israeli side of the border.
