The government in Iceland resigns.

This was announced by the country's prime minister at a press conference.

- It is definitely disappointing, says Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson.

The government cooperation between the Independence Party, the Progress Party and the Green Left has ended. This was announced by Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson at a government meeting.

- Of course, it is disappointing when projects fail or circumstances change. It is definitely disappointing, says Bjarni Benediktsson, to Visir.

A meeting is expected to be held tomorrow between Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson and Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir.

New elections will be held on November 30 if Iceland's president accepts Bjarni's proposal to dissolve parliament.

"Unrest" before the announcement

The announcement comes after "unrest" in the government house during the past week.

Two members of the board, Óli Björn Kárason and Jón Gunnarsson, have stated that the board's mission has come to an end because the Green Left does not want to do more on immigration and energy issues.

When the government was renewed under the leadership of Bjarna Benediktsson, it was said that the government's priority mission was to deal with economic issues, immigration issues, energy issues and changes to the early retirement system.

Icelandic media write that there were several people who were not satisfied with the fact that Svandís Svavarsdóttir, the leader of Vänstergröna, should have publicly said that she wanted elections this spring without talking to the leaders of the other government parties.
