Family of eight killed in attack in Gaza

A family of eight people has been killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza late last night, AP writes.

A house in the Nuseirat refugee camp was hit in the attack. A couple and their six children were killed. The couple's children were between the ages of 8 and 23, according to Palestinian authorities.

A further seven people were injured in the attack, three of whom are being treated for critical injuries.

29 are reported dead in new attacks on Jabalia

At least 29 people were killed in new Israeli attacks on Jabalia in northern Gaza on Saturday, medical personnel said according to Reuters. 19 of them are said to have been killed in raids on the night of Saturday, and another ten people during the day, writes the news agency.

The majority of the past week's fighting between Israel and Hamas has been fought in and around the densely populated Jabalia. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 150 people have been killed in the city in the past week. According to Israel, dozens of militants have been killed, but it is unclear how many of the dead are civilians.

Israel has issued a new evacuation order from northern Gaza. At the same time, thousands of people are stuck in the refugee camp in Jabalia.

UN expert: Hunger risks rising exceptionally

Hunger and the number of undernourished in Lebanon could rise "exceptionally" if Israel goes ahead with threats to escalate the military operation in the country, warns a UN expert according to The Guardian.

- Israel has the ability to starve Lebanon - as they have starved Palestinians in Gaza, says Michael Fakhri, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food.

According to Fakhri, Israel has the geographical conditions required to completely cut off the food supply to the country.
