Germany does not rule out holding talks with Vladimir Putin on how to achieve an end to the war in Ukraine. This is what Chancellor Olaf Scholz says according to AFP.

- Alongside our clear support for Ukraine, it is time for us to do everything we can to investigate how we can prevent the war from going on indefinitely, he says.

However, Scholz adds that no decisions will be made over the head of Ukraine or without the consent of allied countries.

Russia promises "painful revenge" against Norway after dispute over diplomats

The Kremlin will take revenge on Norway in a "painful" way after Norway reduced the Russian diplomatic presence in the country to two people. This is according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zacharova, according to Reuters.

No further details are given.

On Monday, the Russian embassy in Norway wrote on Facebook that it is reducing the consular staff to two, at the request of the Norwegian government.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry claims that it is not an expulsion of diplomats. On Monday, a press spokesperson told the news agency NTB that talks were held with Russia "to secure the diplomatic presence in both countries".

NATO chief Rutte pays tribute to Sweden's "strong military"

NATO Chairman Mark Rutte praised Sweden's involvement in NATO and the development of the country's "strong military" during a press conference on Thursday.

- This shows that Sweden is willing to contribute to our security as a collective, he says.

Rutte earlier met with today's Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, for a meeting which is said to have been about NATO's deterrent capability. The meeting ended with a joint press conference.

Rutte also stated that he was "well aware" of the Ukrainian "victory plan" that President Volodymyr Zelenskyj presented in the country's parliament earlier today. The plan is part of "a bridge" that will eventually lead to NATO membership for Ukraine, according to Rutte.

- Let there be no doubt that neither Putin nor Russia has any vote or veto regarding this.

Zelenskyy rules out giving up ground in the victory plan

In the "victory plan" that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented today, giving up Ukrainian territory under any circumstances is completely excluded. The BBC writes.

Earlier in October, the Financial Times reported that Ukrainian and Western officials are increasingly discussing a scenario in which Russian-occupied territories are given up in exchange for NATO membership for the rest of the country.

Among others, the president of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, has previously opened up to this solution.

New information: 10,000 North Koreans are being prepared

Right now, 10,000 North Korean infantrymen are being trained in eastern Russia for deployment in Russian border areas near Ukraine. Sources within Ukraine's intelligence service HUR told the Kyiv Post on Wednesday.

The day before, HUR sources stated that it was about 3 000 soldiers. The North Koreans are to be deployed to relieve Russian soldiers, according to the sources.

Since North Korea and Russia signed a defense agreement this summer, North Korea has supplied the Russian army with large quantities of ammunition, and subsequently engineer soldiers. The infantrymen are expected to be deployed at the end of the year.
