IDF: Drove into the post - no risk to Unifil

The Israeli Defense Forces confirms parts of the course of events described by the UN peacekeeping forces (UNIFIL) in Lebanon, reports Reuters.

Unifil stated earlier on Sunday that the IDF had stormed one of their posts with tanks. According to the IDF, a tank drove a few meters into the post to evacuate wounded soldiers.

"There was no risk that Unifil's forces would be harmed during the incident," writes the IDF.

This week Unifil has accused Israel of deliberately shelling their posts and stated that several of their soldiers have been injured in connection with the shelling.

Drone attack in Israel – 67 people have been injured

67 people have been injured in a drone attack in Binyamina in central Israel, the Times of Israel reports. Lebanon-based Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to Haaretz, the IDF is investigating why the air raid alarms did not go off. The target must have been a military base near Haifa, writes The Telegraph.

Another drone is said to have been shot down by the country's air force. The number of injured is unusually large, as Israel has a strong air defense that usually succeeds in shooting down incoming drones and robots, AP writes.

US sends air defenses - to stop Iranian attacks

The United States will send the Thaad air defense system to Israel, the Pentagon announced, thus confirming the Wall Street Journal's information. The newspaper calls it a "significant step" in US ambitions to prevent attacks against Israel.

The US is also said to be sending close to 100 soldiers to operate the system, which is described as unusual. The decision has been taken as the US and Israel discuss an attack on Iran, in response to the robot attack at the beginning of the month.

If Iran were to respond to a new Israeli attack, it would be the third time Tehran has struck Israeli targets this year.
