US Attacks at Hormuz: “Secure Passage”

The US has attacked targets in the Strait of Hormuz in Iran. The US military said in a statement, according to Reuters. The attack is said to be in response to Iran’s attacks on a commercial vessel on Thursday.

Fighter jets have attacked Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and radar facilities on the coast, according to the statement.

The US forces promise to “continue to secure the passage of commercial vessels through the strait”.

Iranian media reports that a “projectile” has hit the area around a pier in Sirik on the Strait of Hormuz, writes Reuters.

Vance after the attack: “Violence will be met with violence”

If Iran has questions about how the ceasefire agreement with the US should be interpreted, it is “just to pick up the phone”. This is what US Vice President JD Vance wrote on X after last night's US attack on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US justified the attacks by saying that Iran had first attacked a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, writes Reuters. According to Iran, the ship was using an unauthorized waterway.

US President Donald Trump does not want to answer whether he considered the ceasefire with Iran to be still valid after both sides exchanged attacks yesterday, reports CNN.

“This is clearly a stupid way to break the ceasefire,” Trump wrote about the Iranian attacks on Truth Social on Saturday night. When CNN asks directly whether the ceasefire is still in effect, Donald Trump is less clear.
