Thousands rally against hate in Belfast
Thousands of people gathered in Belfast on Saturday to mark against hate and racism after this week's violent riots.
Protesters held placards with slogans such as "Belfast stands against racism" and "hate is the only threat on our streets".
The demonstration was held after the Northern Irish capital was shaken by a brutal murder attempt, with subsequent anti-immigration protests that in several places derailed into violence.
The spark for the protests was a case in which an asylum-seeking Sudanese man is accused of trying to stab a man to death on a street in the city.
British Northern Ireland Minister Hilary Benn stated on Thursday that many are afraid after the violent riots, which have forced people to leave their homes and where perpetrators have targeted people based on skin color.
