Johnson will send immigrants to Rwanda
The British government plans to send asylum seekers in the UK to Rwanda, writes Sky News.
Boris Johnson has today announced that the British navy will take over responsibility for dealing with migrants crossing the English Channel.
Part of Johnson's border control plan is that some of the migrants coming to the UK will be flown illegally to Rwanda, where their asylum application will be processed instead.
British Home Secretary Priti Patel says more details about the plan will come, but that Britain has signed a co-operation agreement with the African country.
The organization Refugee Council, which works with asylum and refugee issues, is strongly critical of the decision and calls it cruel and disgusting.
- It will not deter them from coming to this country. It will only lead to more human suffering and chaos, at a very high price, says the organization's leader Enver Solomon.
