"Haley's campaign is paid for by Joe Biden's donors"
Donald Trump is turning up the confrontational rhetoric against challenger Nikki Haley, US media reports. During a campaign rally in Iowa on Friday night, the former president launched a fierce attack on Haley.
Among other things, he accused the former UN ambassador of "sitting in the lap" of "establishment donors".
- Nikki Haley's campaign is being paid for by Biden's donors, Trump said.
Haley has, the NYT writes, received large sums of money from Linkedin founder Reid Hoffman, who is also a major Democratic financier.
During his speech, Trump also painted Haley as a globalist, while describing himself as someone who puts America first.
Nikki Haley has surged in the polls in recent months and is seen as Trump's main challenger as Republicans soon begin their primaries to nominate a presidential candidate.
One in four Americans believe the FBI was behind the storming
One in four Americans believe the conspiracy theory that the FBI was actually behind the storming of Congress on January 6, 2021. This is according to a new survey by the Washington Post and the University of Maryland, published ahead of the three-year anniversary of the storming.
Despite the fact that over a hundred people have been sentenced for participation in the riot, the conspiracy theory about the FBI's involvement has spread in American right-wing media. According to the Washington Post poll of 1,024 voters, 25 percent of respondents said it was "probably" or "definitely" true that "the FBI organized and encouraged the attack" on the Capitol. Among Republican voters, the figure was 34 percent, among Democrats 13 percent.
The results of the survey do not surprise experts the Washington Post spoke to.
- It is unfortunately consistent with the general nonsense and lies that circulate on social and mainstream media, says Hany Faird, a professor at the School of Information at Berkeley.

Biden compared Trump to Nazis in campaign speeches
President Joe Biden devoted most of his campaign speech in Philadelphia on Friday night to a frontal attack on his rival Donald Trump.
- He talks about Americans' blood being poisoned, and repeats exactly the same language that was used in Nazi Germany, says Joe Biden according to AFP, with reference to Trump's statements about illegal immigrants.
During his first major campaign rally before the primaries, Biden didn't say much about his own policies, except that he puts democracy at the center.
- Trump is ready to sacrifice our democracy to take power, he said according to Reuters, referring to the third anniversary of the storming of the Capitol on Saturday.
