The United States has again put the Houthi movement in Yemen on its list of terrorist groups, reports CNN. It is happening as a response to the repeated ship attacks in the Red Sea.
Donald Trump's administration classified the group as a terrorist just weeks before the change of power in the United States in early 2021. Shortly after taking office, the Biden administration removed it from the list again.
The motive then, according to Foreign Minister Antony Blinken, was that the terrorist classification could stand in the way of important humanitarian aid to the country.
The United States says that the new sanctions that will now be introduced against Yemen will be designed to have minimal consequences for the war-torn population, but several aid organizations are doubtful about that, AP writes.

New confrontation on the Red Sea - no one injured
Several boats and a drone believed to be linked to the Huthi rebels are said to have approached a container ship off Dhubab in Yemen on Wednesday, according to the security company Ambrey, according to Reuters.
The ship should not have been stopped and no one should have been injured.
In recent months, ships in the Red Sea have been repeatedly attacked by Huthir rebels who want to show support for Palestine during Israel's ongoing offensive in Gaza.
The Houthi rebels have used both robotic attacks and the boarding of civilian ships. As recently as Tuesday, a Greek container ship was hit by a robot believed to have been fired from Yemen.
