Colombian drug mafia
Colombian president: Everyone should legalize cocaine

Cocaine should be legalized worldwide. That's the opinion of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, writes Politico.

Petro claims that cocaine is only illegal because it is produced in Latin America, and claims that scientists have concluded that it is no more dangerous than whiskey.

- If you want peace, (drug trafficking) must be eliminated. That can be easily done if the world legalizes cocaine and sells it like wine.

The US is spending excessive resources on combating cocaine smuggling from Colombia when fentanyl from other countries kills far more Americans, according to the president.

Colombia is the world's largest producer of cocaine - 2,600 tons in the record year 2023 alone - and has been ravaged by drug wars for decades.

Greenland's future
Greenlandic party wants to vote on independence

The Greenlandic government party Siumut wants a referendum on independence in the next term, party leader Erik Jensen tells Danish DR.

The party wants to activate Section 21 of the Danish Home Rule Act. It stipulates that Greenland itself has the right to decide on independence in a referendum after discussions with, and consent from, the Danish Parliament.

“It should be done on an informed basis, so that the inhabitants have a full understanding of the consequences. We have a welfare society that should function, and we also have to look at economic aspects,” says Jensen.

Greenland goes to the polls on March 11.

The development of AI

Deepseek may be banned from US government units

Two US congressmen are to present a proposal to ban the Chinese AI chatbot Deepseek from government-owned computers, mobile phones and other devices, reports the Wall Street Journal.

– It should be an obvious step to take immediately to prevent the enemy from accessing information about our government, says Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who introduced the proposal together with Republican Darin LaHood.

According to the analysis by security company Feroot Security, Deepseek has intentionally hidden code in the chatbot that can send data to the Chinese state-owned telecom company China Mobile, which is banned in the United States.

Border policy in the United States
Mexican soldiers on site at the US border

Mexico has sent 10,000 soldiers to the border with the United States as a result of President Donald Trump's threat of punitive tariffs, reports the AP.

On Monday, Trump promised to postpone the introduction of the tariffs for at least a month and in exchange, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum promised that she would strengthen the border to, among other things, stop fentanyl smuggling.

Army and National Guard troops will be deployed to the country's northern border, according to an agreement between Trump and Sheinbaum.

The decision covers 1,200 schools and around 500,000 athletes.
