Reports: Iran Cuts Off All Communications with the US
Iran is cutting off all communications with the US, the state-run Iranian news agency Tasnim reported, according to Reuters.
The reason is said to be Israel's attacks in Lebanon.
Iran has demanded that a peace agreement must also include Lebanon and, according to the news agency, no talks will take place if the demand is not met.
The announcement has caused oil prices to rise by five percent, according to CNBC.
The Revolutionary Guard threatens to open "new fronts"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard is threatening to open "new fronts" due to the Israeli offensive in Lebanon. The Revolutionary Guard said this in a statement, the semi-state Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
The statement follows reports that Iran has cut off talks with the US for the same reason. Iran has previously demanded that a peace agreement must also include Lebanon.
The Revolutionary Guard does not specify which “new fronts” could be opened.
On Monday, Mohsen Rezaee, military advisor to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that the escalation in Lebanon will not be tolerated, writes AFP.
“Iran’s patience has a limit,” he wrote on X.
Trump on the interrupted talks: Couldn’t care less
US President Donald Trump tells CNBC that he doesn’t care if the Iran talks are over.
– I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less, he says.
He also says that he will ask Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu what is going on in Lebanon.
Earlier on Monday, information appeared in Iranian media that Iran had interrupted contact with the US because of Israel’s continued offensive in Lebanon.
In a previous interview with NBC News, Trump stated that the United States had not been informed of Iran's decision.
