Gang violence forces thousands in Haiti to flee their homes
More than 10,000 residents of Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince have been forced to leave their homes in recent weeks, the United Nations estimates according to Reuters.
That after gang criminals took control of the Carrefour Feuilles district. According to information, gang members have, among other things, looted and set fire to homes. The police lack the resources to stop the violence, writes the news agency.
In recent days, fleeing residents have set up camp in the Champ de Mars park in the central parts of the city.

Clerina fled with the children: “Nowhere to go”
Clerina Coffy is one of many residents of Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, who have fallen victim to the escalating gang violence.
She, like many others, has fled gang-controlled areas and set up camp in the center of the city.
She fled Thursday with her three children, away from the gangs' looting.
- We are here because we have nowhere to go with the children.
The UN estimates that around 10,000 residents of the capital have been forced to leave their homes in recent weeks.
